Common questions in Bedford
Answers for homes in Bedford and the HRM region.
- Can I use Halifax Solar City financing in Bedford?
- Yes. Bedford is within the Halifax Regional Municipality, so your property can qualify for Halifax Solar City: a fixed-rate solar loan repaid as a Local Improvement Charge, billed separately from your property tax bill. We confirm eligibility for your specific address during the free assessment.
- How long does a solar install take in Bedford?
- It depends on the system, the permit, NS Power's inspection, and how you pay. Projects financed through a municipal program usually take longer, because the participant agreement, approvals, and inspection steps add time before commissioning. We'll talk through the expected timeline for your home during the assessment.
- Do I need a permit to install solar in Bedford?
- Yes, the electrical work is reviewed and inspected. For a system of 27 kW or less in Bedford there's no NS Power program to apply for: as the installer, we send the electrical plans to NS Power's Inspection Services team and arrange the inspections, so you don't have to chase paperwork. Systems over 27 kW apply through NS Power's Commercial Net Metering Program.
